The New England Region/Carriage Association of America was founded in October 1969 by thirty-two Carriage Association of America New England members. It is the oldest of the CAA chapters.
We are a group composed of carriage fanciers and carriage drivers. Our interests range from restoration and conservation of carriages and sleighs, to pleasure driving in modern-made vehicles, to combined driving.
In the past, the NER/CAA organized horse shows such as Maine Carriage Days, the Monadnock and Northhampton shows, and the Kent School Driving workshops. In the early years, there were few driving clubs but in recent years many new ones have been organized and they have taken over sponsoring local shows.
The NER/CAA has a centerpiece Annual Meeting/Learning Weekend held every year with a three day program including speakers, visits to a horse-drawn vehicle museum or a private collection, and an annual meeting.
